What Blocks Magnesium Absorption?

What Blocks Magnesium Absorption?

Today we're going to talk about what blocks magnesium absorption.

In other videos, we've discussed foods that are high in magnesium, but as we're learning, it's actually quite difficult to get proper magnesium levels from the food we eat. One of the reasons for this is substances called phytates, or phytic acid and oxalates. Phytates are found primarily in nuts and seeds, and oxalates are found in some nuts and seeds, a lot of whole grains, and leafy greens. And unfortunately, and one of my favourite foods which is chocolate.

The problem with phytates and oxalates is they need to bind to a mineral in order to be removed from the body. So, they'll choose magnesium, or other minerals in order to be removed from the body, and then your body does not have the ability to absorb that mineral because it's being bound to these oxalates or phytates. Now as you can hear, I've just listed a lot of healthy foods. But the biggest problem is not that these foods are unhealthy it's that we're not preparing them properly.

If you look at traditional methods of preparing food. When it comes to nuts and seeds that we should be sprouting or soaking them. And when it comes to whole grains, we should be soaking them before we cook them, and leafy greens, we should actually be consuming cooked, more than raw. There's been a good trend on raw eating, and well it has its benefits, there are certain foods that we actually shouldn't consume primarily raw.

Now if you're like most people these days on the go, busy, a lot on your mind, you might not have time to soak or sprout nuts or you might forget to soak your whole grains, and suddenly it's dinnertime. And it either is eating a piece of white bread or the whole grain rice that you forgot to soak. Of course, it's always better to eat healthy.

But if you're concerned about getting your magnesium levels. We highly recommend that you supplement with a highly bioavailable, magnesium, such as PrizMAG Magnesium Bisglycinate Capsules, or MAG365 Ionic Magnesium Powder.
