MAG365 BF FAQ
We recommend consuming your MAG365BF within 48 hours as it gradually loses its high absorbability properties over time. If you consume your MAG365 BF immediately after activation, your stomach doesn’t need to break it down – it's already in a form your body can promptly use. If it's consumed after 48 hours, it remains a beneficial supplement with many health perks, but it will absorb similarly to non-ionic magnesium citrate, which boasts an approximately 30% absorbency rate (compared to the nearly 100% absorbency of ionic MAG365). For additional insights, refer to our article “Understanding Ionic".
While the efficacy of vitamin C is proven to drop slightly at temperatures greater than 85°F, the negative effects of heat on Vitamin C become more problematic at 140°F. However, water boils at 100°F, so the vitamin C will remain largely intact. If you prefer, you can mix your MAG365 BF in warm or cold water instead. It will activate in hot water in approximately 15 seconds, warm water in 45-60 seconds, and cold water in roughly 20-30 minutes. There is no noticeable fizz with cold water, but you will know it is activated when it goes from cloudy to translucent.
MAG365 BF+ Calcium features a 3:2 ratio of magnesium to calcium. Following comprehensive research on this topic, we consider this ratio ideal when factoring in dietary calcium intake. For more details, refer to the question “What is the relationship between calcium and magnesium?” below.
Boron, often found in nature as borates or boric acid, is a naturally occurring substance present in the environment and various foods like nuts, legumes, and select fruits and vegetables. It's generally recognized as safe, with a tolerable upper intake level of 20mg. Our boron content stands at 3mg per dose, well within safe limits, and plays a crucial role in health. There was a study in Turkey that looked at pregnant women who had been exposed to high levels of boron. The study concluded: "In spite of the high level of daily boron exposure, adverse effects on various pregnancy-related factors like induced abortion, miscarriage, stillbirth, infant death, and more were not observed." As always, we recommend checking with your doctor before starting a new supplement while pregnant.
Calcium is commonly praised for fortifying bones and teeth, but recent studies reveal that an excess of calcium can pose health risks. These studies underscore the importance of cofactors like magnesium, Vitamin D3, and Vitamin K2 for bone health, as these nutrients collaborate to direct calcium to the bones and teeth, where it's most needed. Without these key partners, calcium might accumulate in harmful areas such as arteries (leading to heart disease), organs (contributing to kidney stones), eyes (linked to cataracts), joints (associated with arthritis), and the brain (related to movement and psychiatric disorders). Supplementing with calcium without these essential cofactors can be counterproductive, especially considering that most of us obtain sufficient calcium from our diets, and our bodies efficiently recycle a substantial amount of it. In contrast, acquiring these cofactors solely from diet can be challenging. Therefore, it's crucial to evaluate your diet and lifestyle to determine whether additional calcium supplementation would be advantageous for you.
Our D3 is derived from lichen, a unique vegan-friendly organism that's a fusion of fungus and algae. Lichen possesses a distinct ability to produce vitamin D in the natural form of cholecalciferol (vitamin D3), known for its bioavailability and gentle impact on the body. While most plant-based vitamin D comes in the form of D2, lichen isn't classified as a plant. Conventional sources of D3, such as cod liver oil or lanolin (derived from sheep's wool), raise concerns. Lanolin extraction from sheep often involves exposure to toxic pesticides used to protect the wool, which goes against our commitment to purity. In contrast, lichen stands as a purer, more ethical choice that aligns with our vegan principles.
It's true, and it's an often overlooked detail by many supplement companies. Vitamin K2 can deteriorate in the presence of magnesium and calcium. To address this, we employ a double microencapsulated K2 in the MAG365 BF line, MAG365 Kids, Vitamin D Plus, and PrizMAG Plus. This method safeguards the integrity of Vitamin K2 from production to consumption. Without this protection, a product containing K2 alongside an organic alkaline substance like magnesium or calcium might retain as little as 20% of its K2 within just one month from the manufacturing date. While breakdown rates can vary based on factors like temperature and ingredients, it's an essential consideration when selecting a bone support formula.
Yes. All our products are safe for pregnant and nursing women. Specifically, we believe that MAG365BF is especially vital during pregnancy, as the baby draws essential nutrients from your body. Considering that experts estimate over 80% of individuals are deficient in magnesium, it's crucial to ensure you have enough for both yourself and your baby. As always, be sure to consult with your doctor before starting a new supplement while pregnant.
Absolutely! MAG365 BF serves as a fantastic supplement for managing PMS, pregnancy, and menopause, with numerous women reporting significant relief from unwanted hormonal symptoms during these life stages. PMS: Magnesium aids in muscle relaxation and tension reduction. Pregnancy: Magnesium plays a role in preventing pre-eclampsia and easing the general restlessness commonly experienced by pregnant women. Menopause: Magnesium helps alleviate the poor sleep often associated with menopausal women. Maintaining healthy bone mass is crucial during the menopausal years, and MAG365 BF comprises all the essential cofactors for healthy bones. Moreover, these cofactors work together to ensure healthy hormone balance.
It can be! However, we created MAG365 BF to be the first calcium-free bone health supplement on the market. Why? Because recent research has shown that calcium supplementation may lead to a buildup of calcium in unwanted places, such as the blood vessels and organs. Since it is fairly easy to obtain sufficient calcium through diet, we decided to make a bone formula that contained cofactors needed to direct dietary calcium to the right places -- the bones and teeth, while working together to promote stronger bone health.
When MAG365 BF was initially named, the "BF" stood for "bone formula." Surprisingly, it's a bone-supporting formula that doesn't include calcium, making us the sole manufacturer offering such a supplement. Our decision to exclude calcium came after thorough research on calcium and its supplementation. Our findings indicated that most individuals obtain sufficient calcium from their diets, and the body efficiently recycles a considerable portion of its calcium. Conversely, the additional vitamins and minerals in MAG365 BF—like magnesium, Vitamin K2, and Vitamin D3—are challenging to obtain solely through diet but are crucial for proper calcium absorption. While "BF" officially represents "Bone Formula" in MAG365BF, customers have playfully dubbed it as "Best Friend," "Best Formula," and even "Bear Formula" due to its efficacy in relieving premenstrual symptoms, including irritability.
Contemporary research indicates that the ideal calcium to magnesium ratio stands at 2 to 1. However, the renowned author of "The Magnesium Miracle," Dr. Carolyn Dean, suggests an optimal level of 1,000mg calcium to 600mg magnesium. On the other hand, Peter Gillham, a researcher and chemist, proposes a 3:2 magnesium to calcium ratio for supplementation. This recommendation aligns with the fact that most diets supply more calcium than magnesium, emphasizing the significance of balancing these minerals. While bones benefit from a 2:1 calcium to magnesium ratio, the brain and heart operate better with less calcium and more magnesium. Gillham advocates for a 3:2 magnesium to calcium ratio in supplements, reflecting this nuanced requirement. Supplementing with calcium, especially if your diet is already rich in it, might deplete magnesium stores as calcium absorption relies on magnesium. Excessive calcium intake, from both diet and supplements, could lead to calcium deposits in various body parts, including joints. Conversely, an excess of magnesium is safely excreted through stool. Therefore, it's safer to over-supplement with magnesium than calcium. For those needing additional calcium due to a low-calcium diet, our product MAG365 BF Plus Calcium is recommended. It maintains a 3:2 ratio of calcium to magnesium and is fortified with essential cofactors—vitamins D3, C, and potassium—to aid in calcium absorption. Without the presence of D3 and magnesium, your bones cannot effectively assimilate the calcium.
It's crucial to have adequate magnesium for vitamin D3 activation. When magnesium levels are insufficient, vitamin D3 remains stored in the body, unused. Additionally, vitamin K2 plays a vital role in preventing vitamin D3 excess, thus ensuring proper calcium distribution. Vitamin D3 boosts calcium absorption, but an excess can lead to excess blood calcium levels. Boron, an essential component in our MAG365 BF formula, is needed for optimal vitamin D3 absorption.
After extensive research, the MAG365 BF formulation was carefully selected to ensure effective absorption and utilization of its ingredients. For instance, Vitamin D3 relies on magnesium for activation, and K2 is essential for Vitamin D3 utilization. These nutrients collaborate to direct calcium to bones and teeth, preventing accumulation in undesired areas.
